Electricity and Natural Gas

Electricity and natural gas service is provided by SaskPower and SaskEnergy. Communities which do not currently have access to natural gas are not expected to receive service from SaskEnergy in the near future.

Water and Sewage Service

Most municipalities within the Red Coat REDA area draw their water from wells, springs or the Thompson Lake Reservoir.

Sewage disposal for most municipalities within the region is provided by local lagoon systems which provide for natural treatment of both residential and commercial sewage.

The majority of communities collect solid waste from residences and businesses and dispose of it in land-fills. Recycling programs are operated in several communities throughout the area. The Town of Assiniboia is evaluating the possibility of introducing a full-scale recycling program for plastics, paper and glass.
